      Our presenter for this special program is Tali Berner PhD She has a doctorate in Jewish
      History from the Hebrew University, specializes in Childhood Studies and Early Modern
      Ashkenazi Culture and is on the faculty at Tel Aviv University. Her research concentrates on Jewish communities of Central Europe plus Eastern, Western Europe and Italy.

      Jeanette Rosenberg is a Professional Genealogist and member of AGRA, (Association of Genealogists & Researchers in Archives). She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Genealogical Studies from Strathclyde University. Jeanette is a frequent researcher at archives in Germany, where she has participated in local history seminars. She is also a popular Jewish genealogy speaker around the UK. Jeanette was appointed to the GerSig Coordinating Committee in 2009 and is involved in JGSGB, (Jewish Genealogical Society of Great Britain) leading on Education & Mentoring, managing exhibitions, and convening JGSGB’s German SIG. A member of the Society of Genealogists and Anglo-German Family History Society, Jeanette is also a Guild of One Name Studies member, researching NEUGARTEN.

      The lecture will be on the Cassuto family (Florence, Italy), and will concentrate on two areas:
      1. The person of Professor Moshe David Cassuto, rabbi and researcher of the Bible (Florence, 1883) - Jerusalem (1951);
      2. The life of the family during the Shoah and their Aliyah to Eretz Yisrael.
      Shaul Baruchi - I am married to Osnat and the father of three children, live in Nitzan. I grew up in Kvutzat Yavne. I studied and received my rabbinical ordination in Yeshivat Hakibbutz Hadati at Ein Tzurim, where I also studied and worked in the Machon Michkar of the Yeshivah. Today I work in Torah research and I teach. I am a descendent of the Cassuto family from by way of my mother Sarah. My Grandmother was Hulda Campaniano from the House of Cassuto.

      Description: This month we have a great treat for all the history buffs!

      We are delighted to welcome back Professor Jonathan Goldstein from the University of West Georgia.

      Last year he had us enthralled when he spoke about the Jews of Harbin, Manila and Singapore. This year, his subject is about Japan: From Erratic Contact to Recognition to Boycott to Normalization. Professor Goldstein will trace the history between the Japanese and the Jews, and in particular since the Japanese were part of the Axis partners with Hitler during the war and played a double role in regards to the Jews.

      The lecture will be on Wednesday December 28th at 7.30pm.
