Finding Your Jewish Ancestors Within FamilySearch

FamilySearch is one of the largest genealogical databases in the world, containing billions of records from all parts of the world. In this presentation we will discuss how best to use record search, the research wiki, genealogies and the catalog to find your families. There are also resources available to help you learn about Jewish research including the Wiki and Learning Center. Finally, we’ll explore options for you to get research help via free services like the Community, Virtual Genealogy Consultations, Family History Centers, and the Record Lookup Service.

W. Todd Knowles is a Deputy Chief Genealogical Officer at FamilySearch, where he has worked for 22 years.
His own journey in family history, began at an early age, searching for his great-grandfather, a Polish Jew. From
those early beginnings, the Knowles collection was created. The Knowles Collection is comprised of 6 databases
that contain the genealogical records of 1.5 million Jews. The collection is available at FamilySearch.org.
