Yahasra.orgהיא פלטפורמה דיגיטלית חדשנית לתיעוד רשומות קבורה של בתי העלמיןבמרוקו. עד כה תועדו כ- 28,000 קברים ב- 53 בתי עלמין. הפרויקט משלב שיתוף מידע עלקברים במרוקו יחד עם חקר שמות משפחה, ומציע כלים ייחודיים כמו AI לקריאת טקסט על קברים, אלגוריתם ליצירתוריאציות שונות של שמות משפחה או ניתוחים סטטיסטים לזיהוי פיזור השמות היהודייםלפי אזורים. במהלך ההרצאה נציג את האתגרים הייחודיים בתיעוד קברים, את הפתרונותהטכנולוגיים שפותחו ואת הקשר בין שימור מורשת דיגיטלית לתיירות שורשים. הפלטפורמה,הצפויה לעלות לאוויר כאתר וכיישומון בפברואר 2026 בחמש שפות, תשרת יוצאי מרוקוברחבי העולם.
ד"ר יוחנן ועקנין הוא מייסד ומפתחפרויקט Yahasra, מרצה באוניברסיטת אריאלובמכללת אשקלון, והיה עד ינואר 2025, ראש יחידת מחקר בשירות בתי הסוהר.

Yahasra.org– A Digital Platform forDocumenting Jewish Cemeteries in Morocco

Yahasra.org is a digital platform fordocumenting and researching Jewish burial records in Morocco. The project hasdocumented about 28,000 graves across 53 cemeteries and combines cemetery datawith Jewish surname research. It employs advanced tools such as AI-basedinscription reading, surname-variation algorithms, and statistical analysis ofname distribution. The lecture will discuss the challenges of documentation,the technological solutions developed, and the link between digital heritagepreservation and roots tourism. The platform is scheduled to launch in February2026 as a multilingual website and mobile app, is intended to serve Jews ofMoroccan origin worldwide.
Dr. Yohanan Vaknin, founder and developer of the Yahasra project and lecturerat Ariel University and Ashkelon Academic College, and until January 2025served as Head of a Research Unit in the Israel Prison Service.
