1760-1763 Jewish Names in Jerusalem – (images available)
The list is from a document found in the archives of the Yad Ben-Zvi Institute. It is discussed in an article written by Prof. Jacob Barnai (פרופ’ יעקב ברנאי). There 952 names are of residents in the Sephardic community but not all contain surnames.
1918 Magen David Adom – (images available)
In 1918 Rachel Yanait proposed the organization of Magen David Adom made up of women from Gdud HaAvoda (the Workers’ Battalion) volunteering to serve as a medical unit alongside the Jewish Battalions. The plans were not finalized. There are 197 names, many of the women listed twice in various lists. The documents are from the Israel State Archives
Founders Nahalal – (images available)
Nahalal is a cooperative farming settlement founded in 1921. The list of 251 founders was extracted from a poster on the internet containing the pictures and names of the founders
Immigration 1946 – update (images available)
Lists for the year 1946 are included in this release, and include 17,910 names. The documents are from the Israel State Archives.
Fallen Soldiers from the War of Independence 1948 – partial list (images available)
This list of the soldiers that have fallen contains 776 names and was prepared by the army. It includes the date of their death, where they fell, and where they lived in Israel. The documents are from the Israel State Archives.
Prisoners of War in Egypt & Jordan 1948-1949 (images available)
This list of 713 prisoners of war. 118 POWs were held in Egypt and 595 POWs were held in Trans-Jordan. The documents are from the Israel State Archives.
Name Changes 1970-1971 & 1976 – update
Official name changes were published in the government publication Yalkut HaPirsumin (Official Gazette). There can be many reasons for a name change and all official changes go through the Ministry of Interior. This release includes the publications of 1970-1971 and 1976 and includes 21,262 people who changed their name. These publications are in the National Library of Israel, law libraries and offices, and partially on the internet.
