1849 Petitions to Montefiore from Safed and Tiberius – (images available)
Many people and communities petitioned Sir Moses Montefiore for financial help. These two petitions are in addition to the Montefiore censuses. The surnames of the families are included and information about various family members. The listing includes 608 individuals. The original documents are part of the collection at the University College London.
1917-1964 Students at the Alliance Schools in Morocco – (images available) update
The Alliance Israélite Universelle is a Paris-based international Jewish organization founded in 1860. The organization is noted for establishing French-language schools for Jewish children throughout the Mediterranean, Iran, and the former Ottoman Empire in the 19th and early 20th centuries. This month’s release includes 2,764 listings for schools in Oued Zern, Azemmour, Tinerhir, Tiznit, Demnate, Mogador-Essaouira and Mazagan – El Jadida. The documents are from the Central Archives for the History of the Jewish People at the National Library of Israel.
1948-1952 Medical Practitioners – (images available) update
The report includes names of the licensed doctors between 14 May 1948 and 31 October 1952. It was prepared, published and distributed by the Ministry of Health. There are 3,586 doctors listed. The report is from the Israel State Archives.
1949 War Loan (Milveh Milchamah) Engineers – (images available)
This is a report evaluating which engineers could afford to loan funds for the war. There are 164 listings. The documents are from the Israel State Archives.
Name Changes 1972 – update
Official name changes were published in the government publication Yalkut HaPirsumin (Official Gazette) through 1973. There can be many reasons for a name change and all official changes go through the Ministry of Interior. This release includes the publications of 1972 and includes 11,178 names. These publications are in the National Library of Israel, law libraries and offices, and partially on the internet.
The IGRA database and its results page is also available to all registrants. Additional details regarding most databases are only available to paid IGRA members. Certain exceptions exist due to requests of the specific archives.
