The Officers and Board of IGRA wish for you in the coming year good health, personal satisfaction, renewed energy and sense of purpose. We hope that the world around us will see less strife and a more balanced interaction with nature.
The world of genealogy research has changed immensely in the last decade. Whereas we once visited archives and printed out copies of documents we can now, in many cases, check for the information on the archive website and receive the document virtually. Whereas many resources were locked in far away archives, many are now digitized and becoming available. Whereas a new dataset would take a year or more to become indexed and available, new technology makes the information available to us within a short period of time.
New technological advancements and improvements give hope to locating additional family documents where we assumed there were permanent brick walls.
Not all is automated! Preparing databases has many steps from locating appropriate material to scanning, transcribing, transliterating, proofing, and finally making the database appear to the public. As a volunteer organization – we need people for each of these stages!!
We know that your time is precious yet we are asking for your help as IGRA enters 5783. In addition to our databases we are looking for your talents in: planning seminar days, organizing webinars, tech support for our events, writing articles for the website, envisioning the future of IGRA and more. Please send us a note to: [email protected] and let us know in which area you’re ready to help!
In a short while we will be sending out a survey to better understand how you use our resources. We will appreciate your filling out and returning us the survey which will assist us in planning future activities.
Our New Member special offer begins on October 1, 2022 and will allow you up to 15 months (through the end of December 2023) for our usual membership cost of 150 NIS or $45. Membership renewals for 2023 can be made at any time until December 30, 2022. We thank you for your continued support.
