IGRA has added two new databases and updated three others, adding over 48,000 new listings, many of them with images. Honoring the start of the school vacations, we have published a large number of university records, but also immigration, military, from the Ottoman period to the Israel times after the British mandate, and below you can read about them. British Consulate Registration 1855-1919– update (images available)
During the Ottoman Empire, those residents without Turkish citizenship, can be found registered with one of the foreign consulates. If they did not have British citizenship, they are listed as protégés. The ledgers showed that they registered every year that they resided in the country. The present addition includes 6,309 listings of people residing in various localities in Eretz Israel. These microfilms are from the Israel State Archives, and are in the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City, Utah.
1949 National Voters Tel Aviv – (images available) update
The first national elections in Israel were held on 25 January 1949. The election was for the Constituent Assembly. Later the name was changed from Constituent Assembly to Knesset. According to a census held in preparation for the election, the number of eligible voters consisted of half a million people. Due to the number of voters, this is a work in progress and therefore released in sections. This release includes 23,331 voters, only part of those eligible to vote in Tel Aviv. The documents are from the Israel State Archives.
Voters’ Register for the Western Negev Local Area Council Elections 1952 – (images available)
The release includes 1,031 voters from ten new settlements founded after the founding of the State of Israel. The settlements in this area: Be’eri, Kissufim, Tel Re’im, Mivtachim, Nirim, Ein Hashlosha, Magen, Gvulot, Tze’elim, and Nir Yitzhak. The original document is in the Israel State Archives.
Civil Servants – Manpower in Hospitals 1950-1952 – (images available)
The release includes a list of 179 workers in hospitals around Israel, that the hospitals are requesting their release from army service. The original document is in the Israel State Archives.
University & College Graduates – no images update
Various universities and colleges in Israel have published the names of their graduates. The 17,464 graduates in this release are from Haifa University and Oranim for the years 2007-2010 and Oranim for the years 2009-2010 and appeared on the Internet.
